About Me

Career

I have contributed to the health and fitness industry for over 30 years, both as a former Chiropractor and as a Personal Trainer. I’ve been rated as one of the top reviewed Chiropractors in the city with a reputation for fixing problems that most other practitioners deemed “unfixable”. My philosophy is to find and fix the root cause of an issue and that people with chronic unresolvable pain did not have to accept the final diagnosis of ‘you just have to live it with it, or it’s just in your head’.  I hold the same philosophy as a life/health/executive coach. Many of my coaching clients have expressed that I have helped them to identify and break negative patterns of thoughts and behaviors in a couple of months, compared to what they have been able to accomplish over decades with their traditional counsellors and therapists.

I am a student of health optimization and bio-hacking (“the art and science of changing the environment around you and inside you, so you have more control over your own biology,” – Dave Asprey). I have invested hundreds of hours reading and studying the latest proven methods, technologies, and human psychology for us to live our most optimal life in every way. Now nearing my 50s, I feel and (hopefully) look better today than I did in my 20s. As a heath coach, I am passionate about teaching my clients everything that I have learned so they can live an optimal life and become the superhumans they were intended to be.

As an executive coach, I enjoy helping my high-level executives navigate the demands placed on them through work and family life, to young executives trying to make their mark on the world. As a life and relationship coach I work with parents struggling with their marriage and raising their kids, as well as people who are struggling with financial hardship and addictions and the legacy of abuse.

Clientele

I have the privilege of working in the most prestigious location in our country, Toronto’s Financial District. Over the past 20 years as one of the city’s top-rated Chiropractors, some of the most brilliant minds and talents in our nation have requested my help in getting them out of physical pain. Many of my clients are CEOs and high-level executives across banking, investment, law, and tech industries. I have also worked with professional athletes, dancers and musicians. Many of my chiropractic patients have also become my coaching clients.

Business and Leadership

I am a passionate student of Leadership, including leadership in business. I’ve attended numerous leadership conferences for over 20 years to learn from top business, political, entertainment, and faith-based leaders and enjoy providing consultation to existing and start-up health clinics and businesses.

I have successfully led a small struggling clinic in the Toronto financial district and grew it into a large profitable multi-disciplinary clinic. I was on the executive team of a large chain of executive health clubs in the financial district and helped steer the company to record profits. I volunteered my time on the leadership team of a local church for more than 10 years. During this time, I started and led an outreach sports ministry working directly with sports celebrities including former WWE superstar the “Million Dollar Man” Ted Dibiase, CFL hall of famer Mike “Pinball” Clemons, Raptors announcer Herbie Kuhn, and others.

Speaker

For over a decade, I have been requested by law firms, banks and tech companies in the financial district to provide interactive seminars on ergonomics, injury prevention, and fitness for their employees and teams. If your company would like to schedule a seminar or ergonomic assessments, contact me for more information.

Sports and Leisure

In my personal time, I enjoy anything with wheels, speed and adventure. I’ve been riding motorcycles since I was 16 and you may see me commuting to work along the lakeshore on my One-Wheel. I love to skydive, scuba dive, and camp/portage. I am also a sports enthusiast and played varsity football with York University, and Semi-Professional football in the Northern Football Conference with the Oakville Longhorns. I have recently become a consistent low-mid handicap golfer and also enjoy snowboarding, hockey, and baseball.

Family

I met my wife in high school and we have been married for 20 years. We have a daughter and 2 senior cats. I am surrounded by loving and active parents, a sister and her amazing family, and many lifelong friends.

I haven’t shown many people this pic on the left (as I was self-conscious of it), but will do so now to illustrate my point. On the left is a pic of me doing my first (and only) body building competition about 20 years ago. I had to torture myself in order to look like this. Trained 4 hours a day, ate God awful food, and had to plan and prepare my diet non-stop in order to achieve this look. I also had to dehydrate 24 hours before the competition, and become a different race! It was a crazy amount of work (more than a full-time job) for several months in order to look like this for 1 day.

Within 1 month after the competition, I gained 30 lbs of fat as I mentally broke with the extreme training and diet, and binged not only back, but more than my average weight. I vowed to never do this again as it was simply ridiculous. I accepted the fact that being this lean would only happen on this 1 day of my life.

The pic on the right is me today. I have lost more than 25 lbs of fat this last year (yes during covid, and without access to a gym) and am as lean as I was that day 20 years ago. What’s different this time? I did it easily, without crazy training and diet, which is not only sustainable, but enjoyable. I actually never sought out to get this lean, I sought out to be the healthiest version of myself possible, and getting this lean was simply a side effect.

I have been obsessed with studying the latest in health optimization, and what I have discovered is that what was thought to be true in a lot of the health and fitness industry in the past few decades is simply false today. I have learned and tried much of what is out there, and I not only look better, but feel better than I have in 20 years.

Today is my 20th Wedding anniversary! It’s a miracle that anyone can stay with me that long. My wife deserves a medal!

Out of all the accomplishments I’ve had in my life whether it be academic, business and career, or athletic, the thing I am most proud of is my relationship with my wife.

Don’t get me wrong, the last 20 years were no picnic. We’ve had several ups and downs, several fights and disagreements, and were far from having a perfect marriage (which btw is not even a standard that should exist). However, we never gave up on each other. We decided that we will continually improve, understand, and support each other as best as we can.

For me I realized that I had the emotional intelligence of a 7 year old (which most of us guys do have btw). I worked super hard at this, and can proudly say that I’m at least emotionally 12 years old now 🤷‍♂️

The quality of your life is directly corelated to the quality of your relationships, and no relationship is more important than the one with your significant other. It’s worth working on, and worth fighting for.

I’m more in love with my wife than I was when I first met her 29 years ago, and no there’s no magic chemistry or circumstances that created this. It was pure commitment to improve, and make sure that her needs are always my needs.

I have coached several couples now and am happy to report that many of them are just as passionate about their relationship now as when they first met. Don’t allow your relationship to decline, it’s worth fighting for!

My 3 and a half year old daughter gave me the best compliment I could ever receive as a dad. No she didn’t say I was handsome, strong, smart, successful, or anything like that 🤷‍♂️. She said I was happy! I am a happy dad.

This touched my heart because if there is one main thing I want to teach her, it’s how to be happy, and you can’t teach what you can’t do.

Happiness is not based on your circumstances. There are people who have everything that life could offer them and they are miserable. There are also people who have nothing, and have been through hell and are happy. I have personally met many examples of both of these extremes treating some of the wealthiest people in our country in the financial district, as well as at-risk youth through my volunteer work at evergreen as well as mission work I’ve done in third world countries.

Happiness is learned, it is trained, it is a mindset. I have had many circumstances that have dropped me to my knees, especially this year. However, through my training and all that I have learned and applied as a coach, I continue to train, and choose to be happy, and was thrilled that my daughter was able to see and feel that.

How happy are you really? How easily is your happiness swayed by your circumstances? When you see someone who looks fit, you automatically assume that they work-out. However, when you see someone who is always happy, you likely don’t assume that they train to be happy. Whether they are aware of it or not, they follow many disciplines and train their minds to be this way.

You can too, and it can happen quicker and easier than you think.

If you are fed up with living an unhappy life and want to enter happiness boot camp with me, DM me to see how I can help.
